What Does Sharp Pain In The Lower Abdomen Indicate?

I have sharp pains in my lower right side often but not every time I move or turn. The pain is not achy or consistent. It’s just a quick sharp stab. I don’t have a fever and am not nauseous. No bowel problems and past the chic.d bearing years. What could it be? Maybe a pulled muscle?

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Quick sharp stabbing pain on the right side of abdomen can be due to colitis of the right side and also called as typhlitis.
This is a diagnosis by exclusion. This means you have to undergo the following:
Clinical evaluation by a General Surgeon or a Gastroenterologist and thus going for the tests of stool for three consecutive days. Tests of blood and urine.
Ultrasonography to start with and CT scan of abdomen if required.
Colonoscopy.
All these will lead to a proper diagnosis.
If all the investigations are normal then this may probably be IBS that is irritable bowel syndrome.
Control of stress and anxiety helps a lot. Take antispasmodic as and when required.
If a specific cause is found during the course of investigations then it would be specifically treated to give you complete cure.
Watch for the foods and beverages that you take and stop the ones that instigate or enhance the problems.

Hope I have answered your query.
Let me know if I can assist you further.
