Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Does Sharp Pain In The Lower Abdomen Indicate?
I ve experienced sharp pains in my lower lower stomach, similar to period pains, all month around particularly when engaging in sexual activity. I ve also experienced heavy discharge over the past 5-6 months that has a heavy smell but not discoloured. I also experience itchiness in the vaginal area. Ive never had a Pap test , and my female partner and I have never had sex with anyone other than each other. I m just looking to see what it could possibly be and how to stop it?
Coming to your complaints, your pain was more prominent during sexual activity. This is a little bit common in many women. Yeast and bacterial infections are more common causes.
As you were having heavy discharge with smell and itchiness in the vaginal area, you have to go for following investigations: 1. Ultrasound abdomen 2. Complete blood picture 3. Culture of discharge 4. Urine analysis
There is no need to worry, but investigations guide us in a better way. Follow the treatment depending on the investigations: 1. Antibiotic or antifungal 2. Clean sexual habits
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Vamsi Krishna Chittimoju
