What Does Sharp Pain In The Upper Abdomen And Rib Cage Indicate?

My 28 year old daughter complained of being awake most of the night with sharp pain in the upper/under right rib area affecting her right shoulder and upper arm. The pain was fairly consistent throughout the night. The sharp pain has dissipated however the area is still achy. It started around last night around 7:00pm, it is now almost 6:00pm. She feels the ache mostly in her right shoulder.

There can be many reasons for the pain including liver infection to appendicitis. Your daughter needs to be examined by a doctor. Please meet one.
