What Does Sinus Tachycardia On ECG Suggest?

Hi!
I'd like to know the significance of the following observations of my husband found during normal annual health check up.. male, 48yrs age, avid smoker
1. radiograph of chest shows 'broncho-vascolar prominence in both lung fields' though 'bilateral hilia appear normal'
2. ECG report says 'sinus tachycardia with heart rate 106bpm'
Looking fwd to hear frm u soon.
thanx

Thanks for using healthcaremagic.I understand your concern. In my opinion, sinus tachycardia on ECG suggests elevated rate of impulse discharge(greater than or equal to 100 beats per minute) from the sinoatrial node which is usually physiological(normal) that require no treatment. However i would advise to get a opinion from cardiologist,if sinus tachycardia is persistently present to rule out any underlying cardiac pathology or benign chronic non-paroxysmal sinus tachycardia due to autonomic instability.Hope this information helps you.Take care.
