What Does Slight Fusion Of C2 And C3 Disc Protrusion In My MRI Scan Report Suggest?

hi , i recently had an mri scan and it revealed that i have slight fusion of c2 and c3 and broad disc protrusion of c4 and c5 which is effacing the thecal sac causing some narrowing of the spinal canal and right lateral recess the nerve roots are not clearly seen, also protrusion at c5/6 and c6/7 which are effacing the thecal sac, so what does all this mean and what can be done about it .

Hello,

The slight fusion of C2 and C3 is likely something you were born with and nothing much can be done about that. It should also not give you any major problem.

The disc between C4 and C5 is making the spaces for the spinal cord and the nerve roots tighter. The same thing is happening at the two lower levels of your neck as well.

The narrowing of the spaces can cause symptoms if the disc squeezes on the nerves. This can be worsened by certain positions of your neck and head.

I advise you to see a spinal surgeon to do a clinical assessment to see the effect these problems are having on your body and create a treatment plan with you.
