What Does Sneezing And Clear Nasal Drainage After Taking Diprovan Indicate?
Had Diprovan IV today at 11am and the maximum dose of steriod for a cervical epidural and trigger points. Upon discharge got a congested left nasal passage which turned into profuse clear nasal drainage. Also, have been sneezing incessantly. Had 3 prior epidurals without this adverse effect. Please tell me the response behind this strange new presentation of mine. It is now 6pm. I feel fine otherwise...no SOB, no chest pain, BP good.
Nasal congestion and clear nasal discharge are mostly not because of epidural injection. You may have a headache as a complication of epidural but not cold and nasal congestion. Your nasal symptoms may be due to an allergen causing allergic rhinitis not related to epidural injection.
As treatment of allergic rhinitis you can take antihistamines like fexofenadine (Allegra), diphenhydramine (Benadryl) and desloratadine (Clarinex). You can use decongestants over a short period, usually no longer than three days which are Oxymetazoline (Afrin nasal spray), pseudoephedrine (Sudafed), and phenylephrine (Sudafed PE) along with immunotherapy, and steam inhalation which may help to ease symptoms.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
