What Does Sore Throat Along With Fever And Body Ache Indicate?

Woke up in the early morning with a sore throat fever glands in neck swollen and sore. Body aches. Had all symptoms for Aroind 4 days. I started taking amoxicillin the next evening and I feel that’s what made me get better. Have had cough for around two weeks. Nasal drainage making me cough. Is it possible that I had strep throat. I work in an elementary school clinic so I am exposed to illnesses all the time.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello Dear.

Thank you for using Healthcare Magic.

I read your query and I understand your concern. It looks like you are suffering from tonsillitis and Amoxicillin is the right antibiotic for it. To prove that you have streptococcal infection you have to do a throat secretions culture. The only way it is contracted is by oral secretions. I don't think this situation is related to the situation of two weeks ago.

Hope my answer was helpful.

Best Regards.
