What Does Sore Throat Along With Skin Blotchiness Indicate?

Thank you. My 15 year old son has chills, sore throat, muscle aches. He has no appetite. Quite a few members of his high school football team have the same symptoms. He has been sick for four days. He has seen his doctor and his doctor diagnosed it as a virus. Today, I noticed that his skin on his torso, arms and legs is quite blotchy. This is a new symptom. I am now wondering if this skin blotchiness means something more significant than a virus. Thank you for taking the time to answer this question.Susan Shea

HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

Rash can occur in viral infections. It would be called viral exanthem.

This can occur with a number of different infections.

If there are no additional symptoms, you can continue to monitor.

If there are other symptoms that are concerning you then you can consider taking him to his doctor for assessment.

I hope this helps
