What Does Swelling In The Left Ankle Indicate?

Hi, My left leg and ankle is swelling a bit. It gets better when elevated. I am on Eliquis for previous DVT , PE and am on Metformin for diabetes as well as Lialda and Etyvio infusions for Ulcerative Colitis. Should I contact my doctor or is this nothing?

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Leg swelling caused by the retention of fluid in leg tissues is known as Peripheral Edema. It can be caused by a problem with the circulatory system, the lymphatic system or the kidneys.

I suggest you do:
-A complete blood count.
-A creatinine and urea levels to control the kidney.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Dorina Gurabardhi
