Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My 5 yr old granddaughter has an enlarged spleen. They checked her for mono with two tests. Both were negative. She also now has an ear infection. Her ped Dr said some of the swelling of her spleen has gone down. Lymph nodes are swollen too. Is cancer a possibility? What do we need to watch for? I carry TB(thanks to my mom) and hep B due to a blood transfusion in 1960. I m scared for her
You should do blood investigation to rule out hematological disorder mainly acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) which is common in a child. Lymph node enlargement occurs due to viral infection also.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
