Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Does Swelling In The Mouth Along With Nausea Indicate?
I seemed to have an allergic reaction to something this weekend. My eyes and around my mouth were swollen and I had nausea. I had a flu shot on Thursday. That seems too much time past for the reaction to be due to the shot. I felt a little out of sorts Friday, nausea started Saturday, swelling followed. Felt the worst Sunday morning, recovered after taking Alieve and Tums. What do you think?
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
Tums has been good for your nausea, but surely the other symptoms like mouth and eye swelling are from an allergic reaction. The flu shot may give such symptoms in case of allergy, and this doesn't mean the reaction must happen the first or second day. You must take Cetirizine to relieve these symptoms. Tums may be continued as well.
Best regards!
