What Does The MRI With Disc Herniation At C6-C7 Indenting The Thecal Sac Indicate?
Hi!my husband got a cervical spine injury in 2007 in an road accident. His C6 &C7 was fractured and their was contusion in C4_5 & C5_6 with Quadriparesis. Now from few days he was suffering from back pain.....he went for MRI.Report says that he is having"Myelomalacic changes in the cord at C5 level. left posterolateral disc protrusion at C5_6 indenting the cord and left exit root.Broad based posterior disc herination at C6_7 indending the thecal sac anteriorly."now this terminology we are not getting...kindly help us to understand in detail.
1.There is a disc in between the vertebrae - which acts a shock absorber, when this disc slipped backward (due to age related and in your case post traumatic). 2.That disc which is slipped / herniated causing pressure effect on the nerve root ( the nerves pass through a foramen / canal in every vertebrae) and causing indentation / pressure effect in the chord. 3.In this case back exercises can help initially, if does not work then operative / interventional procedure is needed.
Hope it helps you. Wish you a good health. Anything to ask ? do not hesitate. Thank you.
