What Does The Baseball-size Hump On The Back Of The Neck Indicate?

I usually get enormous swelling, when I get a bee sting or horse fly bites. Even mosquito bites swell to the size of a plum. I currently have baseball size hump on the back of my neck and shoulder. It has gone down in the last week to half its size. Could this be just another insect bite, spider bite or something else?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Lumps of that size at the back need to be checked with a doctor. It is a good sign it is going down. It can be an insect bite or a skin cyst (epidermoid cyst) or a skin infection. If there is any redness or pain, a visit with the doctor is needed to rule out an infection.

I hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I may assist you further.

Kind regards,
Dr. Antoneta Zotaj.
