What Does The Blood Test Regarding Glandular Fever Indicate?
hello i have come down with what a first though was flu now after going to the hospital the doctor diagnosed it as a cold with out to much hesitation i personally think it is much worse and could even be glandular fever as the tiredness, fatigue, swallen glands, throat and headaches seem alot more severe than that of a cold. I had a blood and it shows my blood cells are unbalanced as follows wbc 3.38 % neut 40% lym 41.7% mxd %17.2 eos 0.3% I had glandular fever when i was young and i can remember it beeing something like this . Do these results show any indication that what i am suffering is glandular fever?
Hello and welcome to HCM, Glandular fever is characterized by symptoms mentioned by you. However, to call the condition as glandular fever certain tests should be positive like monospot test or positive antigen and antibody tests agaisnt Epstein Barr virus (causative agent for glandular fever). Glandular fever is characterized by lymphocytosis and presence of atypical lymphocytes. However, your blood tests are showing decreased white blood cell which is not suggestive of glandular fever.
