Hi. My mother had a brain MRI done recently and it read as follows: there is prominence of the subarachnoid spaces associated with compensatory dilatation of the ventricles bilaterally. No accute intracerebral hemorrhage, mass effect or midline shift. Scattered hyperintense foci in the periventricular and subcortical white matter most likely secondary to chronic microvascular ischemic changes. What does this mean?
