What Does The Fnac Test Regarding Thyroid Indicate?
hello doctor, i'm 35 years old unmarried female.recently i have undergone FNAC test of Thyroid. My result reads as suggestive of nodular colloid goitre with lymphocytic thyroiditis. i had taken Eltroxin during my 9 to 14 years. then i consulted a doctor and he told me to stop taking that. now i'm not taking any medicine for this.i'm 65 kg having 167cms height. is it a dangerous disease? and what should i do to prevent this?please advice.
Welcome and thank you for asking on HCM! I read carefully your concerns. At first let me say that there is no reason to get worried because it is not a dangerous disease. Rather to start the treatment or not it depends on the hormonal level. If the thyroid continues to function normally than there is no reason to get substitution hormonal therapy. There is nothing you can to to prevent further thyroidal damages. All you can do is to check regularly the thyroid hormones and the nodules with ultrasound. Hope the information will help somewhat. Kind regards, Dr.Mirjeta
