What Does The Following MRI Report While Suffering From Lower Back Pain Indicate?
Dr. I had the bone trimmed to try and get it from pressing on the nerve at 3-4 spots. I have a 8-10 in incision in my lower back. I wasn t getting better so Dr ordered another MRI and he thinks it is my slipped disc at L5S1 that is pressing the nerve. He ordered an epideral shot to see if I got some early relief that would tell him it is the disc. I felt great for 2 days now everything is back and getting worse. I have surgery scheduled for Nov 17th to fix disc and fusion. My problem at this time is that both of my legs are so weak and achy I feel like I could fall down at any moment. I have trouble getting up from a chair and its very difficult walking. I was a very good athlete and Head college and HS football coach and I m not soft, but I am very worried. Will this surgery take pressure off nerve and renew the strength in my legs?
The answer to your question depends a little on what was seen on the MRI. If it showed that there was a compression of the descending nerve bundle which justified the weakness of the legs, then it is hoped that by removing the compression you will improve. Whether you will return to 100% or some mild weakness will remain that can't be said, depends on how much damage is already done, but there certainly should be an improvement.
If though there is not such a compression then the cause of your weakness should be investigated, other causes for the weakness must be considered.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
