What Does The Following MRI Scan Report Indicate?

Hello Doc, My husband has recently gone through a scan as he was suffering from non bearable pain in abdomen since two days. In that scan it shows that he is having 4.5*5.2mm calculus at left UV junction and 3.5 mm calculus in left kidney in middle group calyces. He is 27 years old. Please suggest me a better treatment for him. We dont want any surgeries if possible.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

The treatment of renal stones depends on the size and site of the stone. Stones less than 7 mm very often do not need any surgery.

As both the sides in your husband case is quite small I am very hopfull he would not need any surgery.

Drugs may be used like Tamsolsoin, but the main thing is to take a lot of water to produce 4 liters of Urine a day that will likely expel the stones.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
