What Does The Following MRI Scan Result Indicate?

Dear DR, I am diagnosed and confirmed that I have multiple fibroid near uterus. My Dr suggest to do MRI scan to know exact no of fibroid. During consultation the Dr asked me whether I am sexually active and whether I am a virgin. I never have sexual relation with any guys and I am virgin. Why did the doctor asked like this? Is it that people who is sexually active only will get the fibroid?

Hi.
Thanks for posting on hcm.
there is no relation of fibroids to virginity
Fibroids are benign growths in the wall of uterus which are ccommon in reproductive age group.
Sexual activity is routinely asked as a part of history. With regards to Fibroids if you are sexually active there may be a chance of you getting pregnant and in case of multiple Fibroids chances of abortion or reduced growth are more and if planning for removal of fibroids which we called myomecyomy conception is to be avoided atleast for an year as the uterine wall be weak.
Hope this is helpful to you.
Regards
