What Does The Following Widal Test Report Suggest?
Hello Doctor, my Widal test report shows Negative for Paratyphi A and B and Positive for Typhi-O and Typhi -H as below 1/20 , 1/40, 1/80 positive for both O and H 1/160 negative for both I have been having temperature of around 101 degrees for last two days hence did the test
Positive Typhi-O and H in widal test is suggestive of typhoid fever and the risk is higher especially if you are living in a typhoid-endemic area like India.
Typhoid fever can be confirmed by culture of stool and blood for identification of salmonella bacteria. It is best to initiate antibiotics as soon as possible. So please follow up with your treating physician with the Widal test results.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
