Feb. 9 2014 I am a 60yo white male - HIV+ since 1998. I am currently experiencing bilateral - advanced muscle weakness in my legs. Weakness came on quickly in September 2014 and has remained somewhat constant. Developed lower back pain in late 2013 diagnosed as progressive spondylosis and possible arachnoiditis. Recent lumbar puncture reveled elevated protein level: 139 mg d/L CSF appearance: Yellow Lymphocytes: 22% Erythrocytes: 451 /mcL Monocytes/Macrophages: 74% Cytomegalovirus Ab, IgG, S: + Pos Glucose(P): 104 mg/dL I am on a HIV regiment of Truvada and Reyataz. CD4 count is 1020s Viral load is Back pain appears physical and related to age Given the lumbar puncture results, could the neurological problem be related to Guillian-Barre Syndrome and the medication Truvada?
