Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Does The Following Thyroid Scan Report Indicate?
I had a cat scan last week which revealed a nodule of 2.5 cm on the right lobe of my thyroid. The nodule was also calcified . I did a blood test yesterday. The results showed a TSH level of 1.4 - which falls within the normal range. I have an ultrasound scheduled ina few days. Does the fact that my TSH level is within the normal range make it less likely that the nodule is cancerous?
Dear sir I went through your post and understand your concern, as most thyroid nodules are cold and do not secrete thyroid hormone so most of times TSH is normal, second the CT scan and ultrasound neck along with FNAC of nodule will make diagnosis if at all it is cancer, third as there is a single nodule even if it is cancer it is not a problem as chances of complete cure with surgery is more than 90%.
