What Does The Following Transvaginal Scan Report Suggest?

Hi doctor, On 7 Dec 2016, I am 5 week 1day pregnant and had the TVS done the same day.The very same day I had blessing in the morning. My HCG level 2769 on 5 week 1day. Mean sac diameter is 6.3 mm. No yolk sac seen till now, dr said to have TVS done after 8-10 days. My concern is that my gest sac is seen low in the cavity. Uterus is anteverted. What does it mean? Is there positive hope in pregnancy?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

Right now, there is only gestational sac seen. It means that you have conceived. The fetal pole grows at a rate of about 1 mm a day, starting at the 6th week of gestational age. By this time, the mean diameter of the sac would have reached 10 mm.

Appearance of fetal pole followed by cardiac activity will tell whether pregnancy is viable or not. Kindly wait for 8 to 10 days as suggested and undertake scan as advised. It should give you a proper picture about progress of your pregnancy.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Ashakiran S,
