What Does The Following Widal Test Report Suggest?
My daughters doc has written for a Widal Tube Method and the results are as follows : Salmonella Typhi O - Positive (1:80 Dilution), Salmonella Typhi H - Positive (1:80 Dilution), Salmonella Typhi AH - Negative (1:20 Dilution), Salmonella Typhi BH - Negative (1:20 Dilution). What is this mean ? does my daughter have any complication ? I would be able to meet her doc only tomorrow morning.. just want to know the implications. thanks
Hello, thanks for asking on healthcaremagic. WIDAL test can be interpreted according to the location of the patient. In my part of the world titres upto 1:80 are considered normal, more than that like 1:160, 1:320 are taken positive. However in presence of symptoms a serial widal test with rising titres is important. It is important to get it interpreted from your doctor. In India this much titre is endemic in the population and hence considered normal. Hope I cleared your doubts. Thanks
