What Does The Result Indicate:The Myometrium Expanded By Solid Tissue Masses, Mild Fluid In The Pouch Of Douglas?
Hi Doctor, I went for Ultrasound and the results shows a Bulky uterus with an AP diameter of 5.1cm. The outline is regular. The endometrial plate appears normal. The myometrium expanded by solid tissue masses, A & B Intramural in the posterior wall with AP diameter of 1.8cm and 1.6cm respectively. There is a cystic mass at the right adnexa with AP diameter of 1.8cm. It has an irregular wall and contains internal echogenic debris. The left adnexae is free. There is a mild fluid in the Pouch of Douglas. No free pelvic collection sighted. No intra uterine cyesis sighted or retained products
Hello and welcome to HCM, The pelvic ultrasound shows that the uterus is normal in shape and size. A fibroid measuring 1.8x1.6 cm is present in the posterior wall of the uterus. fibroid is a benign growth arising from the muscle layer of the uterus. fibroids are usually asymptomatic. They become symptomatic when they enlarge and may cause menstrual abnormalities. A cyst like structure is present in the right ovary. Cysts are common in ovaries. They also become symptomatic when they increase in size. rest is within normal limits on your pelvic scan.
Thanks and take care Dr Shailja P Wahal
