What Does The Test That Shows AST-89 And ALT 116 Indicate?

Hi i am 42 female and recently gained about 50bls over the past 5 years due to family stresses. In January I came down w/ H1N1 and was very sick for over a month. I went to the emergency room and was told I had elevated AST 89 ALT 168. I was retested last week and it had gone down AST 89 ALT 116. Doctor said it was no big deal but wants me to have an ultrasound. My father died of Pancreatic/ Liver cancer at 79 so I am freaking out.. Are these numbers concerning or is my doc just being extra precautionary?

Hi, dear.
I have gone through your question. I can understand your concern. Your ast and alt is high. You have known cause of viral infection. So its obvious to have high ast and alt. Still you should go for ultrasound abdomen once to rule out any other liver pathology.
Consult your doctor and plan accordingly.
Hope I have answered your question, if you have doubt then I will be happy to answer.
Thanks for using health care magic.
Wish you a very good health.
