What Does The Urine Culture Regarding Tuberculosis Indicate?
few days back my grandfather did urine culture..d report states that in his urine 15-20 pus cells r present...his age is 81...does it indicate tuberculosis in any form and 1 more thing,d reprt also states organism isolated:klebseilla species grown in culture...what does it indicate??
Culture rdports are done to grow the causative organism and thereby guiding the therapy against the isolated organism. Urine culture is indicated in urinary tract infection. In TB in GUT gives sterile pyuria. Sterile pyutia means pus cells are in the urine but organism is not isolated in routine culture. For TB to grow on culture media one needs special culture like LJ medium and usual time is minimum 6 weeks. In your case it is klebsiella isolated. So no need to think of TB.
