What Does The Value IgG 2.26 And IgM 1.47 Suggest ?

I had fever for 2 weels thereafter I found out I had typhoid as I did the typidot test by ELISA on 10th December 2013. The IgG value came out to be 2.43 and the IgM value was 2.25. So after consulting with a doctor I took an antibiotic medicine for 10 days. By the end my fever went away and I was happy. Today, on 6th January 2014, I did the typhoid test by ElISA again just to be sure and to my dismay, the results are still positive. The IgG and IgM values are 2.26 and 1.47 respectively. the y are lower but the results say that any value above 1.20 means positive while below 0.8 is negative. So am I cured from typhoid? does it take a while for the tests to show that or do i still have typhoid despite no fever? plz help!

Tests in the serum, of antibodies (i.e. IgG and IgM) reflect the body's response to an infection. Of these IgG usually indicates past or old infection while IgM indicates recent infection. As the infection is cured, the titer of these antibodies will progressively decrease. It takes a while, usually weeks (for IgM) and sometimes months to years for IgG for them to come down and even disappear. If someone is clinically better and the titer (i.e. values) of the Ig tests are coming down, I would not worry about the numbers. The important thing is that you are feeling better, and the infection was treated. The body's immune system is slowly "cooling down" and you just have to give it some time.
