what does “mild biapical pulmonary pleural and parenchimal opacities most likely represent scarring” on ct report from health 47 year old, never smoked. had chronic cough that comes and goes. ct was for sternoclavicular joint injury from bike accident
The CT imaging features indicate lung scarring in the the upper lobes on both sides. This can be due to a childhood chronic infection which has healed but the scarring remains. You may not be aware of such an infection and any treatment taken for the same. It is unlikely to be related to your bike accident. Lung scarring in lifelong in most patients and it cannot be made to disappear.
