Dear sir, My son is 3 years old. he is having a small lump above neck, just behind ear. we have done FNAC test as instructed by doctor. report result is mentioned below. The smears are adequately cellular and reveal polymorphous population of lymphocytes histiocytes with ill formed epithelioid granulomas. Foci of fibrosis seen. The background shows RBCs. Impression: Granulomatous lymphadenitis. Advise biopsy and histopathological evaluation for diagnosis Kindly tell me what is the dieses and what are the remedies. Thanks / Regards Utpal Ghosh

General & Family Physician, Dr. Ina Zaimi's Response
Hello Mr. Utpal Ghosh
Welcome to Health Care Magic. I read carefully your query and I understand your concern.
The FNAC test report indicates that your son has an infection, which is caused by an intracellular organism. Yours doctors impression is that the causing organism is M. tuberculosis. If I were your sons treating doctor, I would advise to make further tests for differentiating the responsible microorganism and give a definite diagnose. As your doctor advised, further tests have to be done, like a tuberculin skin test (also called a Mantoux tuberculin test), Biopsy of the lymph node and histopathological evaluation.
I hope I answered to your question. Feel free to ask again.
Take Care, Dr. Ina Zaimi
