Hi,
Noted you report of IVU stating the report and you want to know the meaning.
As the report is straightforward it is easy to know:
IVU means intravenous Urethrogram and a dye is injected that is secreted by the kidneys that can be picked up by X-rays.
The
Ureter is a tube that connects kidney to the
urinary bladder and this is not visualized.
The part of the pelvis of kidney is where the kidney collecting system gets narrowed to get connected with ureter, this is full or dilated means enlarged in size more than normal. This obviously is a functioning kidney secreting urine but not passing through the Pelvi-ureteric junction indicating a blockage.
Since it is not noted about any stone, it may be due to a non-visualized stone or any other cause like stricture or so.
This surely needs further evaluation and proper management as per the cause found.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
