What Does This MRI Report Of Spine Indicate?

There are disc protrusions from L3/4tp L5/S1. The patient's left sided sciatica could be from two sources.

The left L4/5 disc protrusion appears to compress the descending left L5 nerve root against the facet joint

and could result in sciatica. There is also an L5/S1 disc protrusion which impinges the left S1 nerve root

which appears to demonstrate mild swelling distal to the disc. Either of these findings could result in left sciatica.

There is also a focal central disc protrusion at L3/4 with a small extrusion component related to a moderate sized cental

annular tear, although this does not appear to result in any significant nerve root impingement.
