Hi I had an MRI about a week ago and I have not heard back from my doctor and the findings of my MRI results are keeping me awake and was wondering if you could tell me what it all means. Here are the results of my MRI:
Narrative
MRI HEAD W/O CONTRAST 04/23/2010
HISTORY: Headache.
COMPARISON: None.
FINDINGS: Axial and sagittal T1, axial T2, axial T2 FLAIR,
diffusion-weighted imaging, ADC mapping sequences of the brain was obtained
without contrast.
A few foci of increased signal that is seen within the white matter of the
frontal lobes bilaterally measuring up to about 3 to 4 mm. These are
nonspecific findings. Rest of the grey and white matter is unremarkable.
Ventricles are normal in size. The cerebellum and brainstem are normal. The
cisterns are patent.
Mucus retention cyst is seen the left maxillary sinus. Moderate right-sided
chronic sinusitis is seen. The diffusion-weighted imaging is normal.
Impression
IMPRESSION:
1. No acute intracranial process noted.
2. Few scattered foci of increased signal is seen within the white matter
of the frontal lobes bilaterally measuring up to about 4 mm. These are
nonspecific findings. Consideration would be for:
1. Migraine.
2. Second in the differential diagnoses would be multiple sclerosis.
3. Moderate right-sided chronic sinusitis in the maxillary sinus and a 2 cm
mucus retention cyst seen in the left maxillary sinus.
