Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hello Doctor, Recently,I have got the abdomen and pelvis scan of my mother (Age : 59 years) done. Two of the finding is bothering me. 1. Liver is enlarged (size 15.41 cm) with 0.6 cm X 0.72 cm in size cystic lesion seen in the liver. 2. Midline Endometrium is thickened (size 1.32 cm). She is diabetic where the sugar score varies between 130 - 150 for past few years and also she has a history of smoking bidi. The ultrasound was carried out on a preventive health check-up basis and there was no pain on any sort of discomfort, bleeding etc she had in recent time. She underwent a major vascular surgery in 2011 and since then she is on medication such as ecosprin 75 etc.She is mild asthmatic as well. Please help me with your suggestions on the above two findings.I have attached the ultrasound report as well. Thanks.
Mild hepatomegaly and hepatic cysts are very commonly seen in the community. The endometrium is the inner lining of the uterus which is shed every month. There is nothing to be worried about. Ask her to refrain from heavy and fatty meals, keep her bowel habits regular, drink plenty water and refrain from alcohol to optimise liver health.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. AJEET SINGH, General & Family Physician
