Hello. I received my abdominal ultrasound resluts back yesterday and they found" Diffuse bilateral renal cortical thinning" I'm 29 and in relatively good health save for Factor V Lieden which I am currently treating with twice daily injections of Lovenox (because my husband and I are trying to get pregnant). My own Doctor's office was not sure what the ultrasound diagnosis meant, she said she would look it up and contact me back. I've since looked on line and don't like anything I've found. Can you tell me if it is possible that it's nothing, or should I have some other test to be sure?
Bilateral diffuse renal cortical thinning is a condition when the kidney tissue is lost probably due to an underlying kidney problems. Your ultrasound has to be matched with kidney function tests like blood urea and serum creatinine. Kidney excretion may also be checked by doing GFR test. If suspicion of renal disease persists then a nuclear scan is required.
