Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
can you tell me what this means? Can you tell me what this results mean? sigmoid polyp biopsy. The specimen consists of a 1.3 x 0.3 x 0.3 cm irregular polypoid fragment of brown speckled pale tan tissue. The specimen is inked at base. All submitted in one cassette. CDM
Hello and welcome to HCM, The report posted by you is not the biopsy report. It is just the description of gross appearance of the biopsy taken from sigmoid colon. The grossing notes suggest that a polyp is received from sigmoid colon and it measures 1.3x0.3x0.3 cm, the tissue is irregular and its color if pale tan. The specimen is inked at the base so that during microscopic examination, any infiltration of any neoplastic lesion (if present) is easily detected. The entire tissue is packed in one cassette for processing. I suggest you to please look up the entire report and post the microscopic examination for interpretation.
Thanks and take care Dr Shailja Puri
