What Does This Biopsy Report Signify?

Hello, I had an endoscopy a couple of months ago, the doctor took biopsy from the stomach, it turned out to be h.pylori, he gave me 2 antibiotics for 7 days and a proton pump inhibitor for 14 days, I took the course as described, a few days after ,the same symptoms came back, so I changed one of the antibiotics and took them for about 12 days with proton pump inhibitor on my own , a couple of weeks later the symptoms came back once again, so 2 weeks ago I went to another doctor, he asked for CT Enterograph, Urine hylines, CBC, urea and creatinine test, everything came back normal, and then he said he wanted to do an endoscopy, so I did another endoscopy, during the endoscopy he suspected h.pylori present, he took a biopsy, a week later, the report came out and it says Section shows two fragments of antral-type gastric mucosa with preserved normal architecture composed of closely packed glands and irregular spaced glands surrounded by lamina propria displaying moderate chronic lymphoid-plasmacytic infiltrates with no active inflammation seen. Many reactive lymphoid aggregates are seen, helicobacter pylori are not seen (which also not demonstrated by Giemsa special stain), no intestinal metaplasia or granuloma is identified, no dysplasia or invasive malignancy is seen. would you please help me out a bit on this, I still have the symptoms tho, thank you.

Hi,

You biopsy report is normal, it mentions the findings observed in a normal stomach lining and also some evidence of infection. Please refrain from self medication. Even though H-pylori was not present in this biopsy, it doesn't mean that it is not there, there is a possibility that some h pylori is still there which is causing your symptoms, my advice would be to continue medications and complete your course.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Thank you.
