Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
my chest xray results as follows: there is minimal linear densities in the right upper lung area. faintly hazed densities are also noted in both lower lung region. heart is normal in size. aorta is unremarkable. hemidiaphargms, sulci and osseous structures are intact. IMPRESSION: CONSIDER FIBROTIC PTB, RIGHT UPPER LUNG. CONSIDER PNEUMONIA, BOTH LOWER LUNG. WHAT DOES THIS MEANS? THANK YOU SO MUCH.
Hi, From the information you have given this means that your right upper lung shows changes of a disease called pulmonary tuberculosis . The lower lobe shows changes of a lung infection called pneumonia. The heart and other structures are ok. Now the first step is to get tested for a disease called tuberculosis . This is done by sputum examination for AFB and culture/PCR for mycobacterium tuberculosis. Sputum is a deep cough specimen take as a three day specimen. You may also get a Mantoux test ( done on skin). It is important to get treated for tuberculosis apppropriately if any of the tests are positive . Do you have any symptoms such as low grade fever, cough, night sweats, loss of weight etc. If so then there is a possibility that you may have acquired a disease called pulmonary tuberculosis . Should you require further assistance in interpreting your tests and reports you may post them here . Best regards
