Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
my mother a sixty-eight year old female had a stool exam with an occult blood test. result shows positive occult blood, and SE result are as follows: Color Black Tarry Stool,Consistency Loose, RBC 10-15/hpf, PUS 2-4/hpf, No parasites seen. My Mother also has a history of hemorrhoids, what thus the result implies?
Hi, Having occult blood positive at this age requires evaluation of her case. This can be due to gastritis, ulce or having any space occupying lesion in GI tract. Presence of RBC might be due to hemorrhoids she is having. Consult gastro-enterologist and get investigated. Ok and take care.
