What Does This Heart Rate And Respiratory Rate Indicate In Children?
3 year old female has a heart rate of 125-130 at rest? slight fever 37.7 degrees (temperature increases at night), respiratory rate of 26, good capillary refill less than 3 seconds, looks tired but engaging. regular paracetamol given for feverish symptoms. is this high pulse rate normal or should i be worried?
The pulse rate is increased. The normal pulse for this age group is 65 to 110 bpm.
The increase may be due to the slight increase in temperature.
You can monitor for now unless there are additional worrying symptoms. If the pulse remains high and there is no infection or obvious underlying cause, then assessment by the doctor may be needed.
I hope this helps
