I received my lumbar puncture results but have not heard from any of my doctors on what they mean. The patient s CSF contains 5 well defined gamma restriction bands that are not present in the patient s corresponding serum sample. These bands indicate abnormal synthesis of gammaglobulins in the CNS. IGG, IGG Index, and IGG Synth are all high. CSF Albumin and Alpha-2 Globulin is low. Gamma Gobulin is high. CSF M Spike is high; An additional m-spike was observed at a concentration of 7.8%. I have been told twice it is MS, only to be told it probably isn t, but that they wanted to see if the tests support or deny a MS diagnosis.
