Hi,
Since you have a history of irregular periods, it is possible that you could be having delayed ovulation and as such your pregnancy age cannot be judged going by dates; only an ultrasound can do it. At 7 weeks, fetal heart should be visible and hence, a repeat sonogram, preferably in the trans-vaginal route should be done after another week to see if there is any change. A serial assessment of the serum beta-hCG titres will show doubling of titres every 2-3 days if the pregnancy is growing well, else, the values decline. Hope this helps.
