What Does This Transbronchial Biopsy Report Indicate?

Bronshial biopsy of 83 year old woman, smokes for 50 years but quit smoking 20 years ago. Has been experiencing coughing and congestion for several weeks, occaisionally coughing up mucous which includes small amounts of blood. FINDINGS: Lungs: There is persistent left lung volume loss related to left lower lobe atelectasis and infiltrate. There is additional new patchy infiltrate in the left perihilar region of the remaining aerated lung. There is no focal right lung infiltrate. Heart: Heart size is unchanged. There is atherosclerotic calcification in the thoracic aorta. Osseous Structures: The osseous structures are unremarkable. Support Catheters: None. There is no pneumothorax. Please let me know your thoughts.

I really appreciate your concern, report could be suggestive of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease it may be more prominent in geriatric age group else this is nothing to worry, still care need to be taken for any infection, hope this information helps take care and have a nice day.
