Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hey, I get my blood result. The result is as follow: WIDAL: Sal. Typhi O : positive 1 in 80 Dilution Sal. Typhi H : Negative 1 in 20 Dilution Sal. Para Typhi AH : Positive 1 in 320 Dilution Sal. Para Typhi BH : Negative 1 in 20 Dilution. Can you please suggest whether i have Thyphoide fever.
Hi . Good to see you concerns for your health Widal test detect various antigens at different dilutions. If "H" and "O" antigens are positive at 160 or more times dilution then widal test is considered positive. So seeing the above results it can be said that you are not having typhoid because your "O" antigen is detected only upto 80 times dilution. But widal is not taken as a confirmative test and its values fluctuate during the course of illness. So a repeat widal is advised after two weeks or you can have further investigations (stool culture in first week and stool/blood culture in second week of illness.) for a confirmation. Wishing you best of health. Regards
