What Does Total Sperm Count 2,587,500 Mil/ejaculate Indicate?
We are trying to have a baby but and our doctor asked me to undergo semen analysis. The result is ph 8.5, wbc 10-12 hpf, rbc 3-5 hpf, normal morphology 4, abnormal morphology 96, sperm vitality 2, overall motility ( PR+NP) 6%, PR 2%, NP 4%, Immotile 94% , total sperm count 2, 587, 500 mil/ejac. I am afraid that the result is not good. Please advise. Thanks
Your semen analysis report suggests infection with decreased motility of sperms and excessive abnormal morphology of sperms. Infection is indicated by the presence of pus cells in semen. Normally there shouldn't be any pus cells in semen. Infection may be due to prostatitis,UTI etc. You need few more investigations like routine hemogram,Semen culture and sensitivity,RBS,Ultrasound of pelvis should be done.Trans rectal sonography of prostate can be done if needed. Proper antibiotics should be prescribed after culture and sensitivity report.
Motility should improve with the control of infection. It symptoms persists then you may need assisted fertilization techniques like IUI,ICSI. You should do exercise and take nutritious food.
Other factors like sperm count is within normal limit.
Get well soon. Hope I have answered your question.
Take Care Dr.Indu Bhushan
