Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My nurse practitioner called in a prescription for me of Prednisone. Bottle says Prednisone 20mg 3 a day. 60mg in one dose seems high so I called the office to check. They said the nurse practitioner had gone home for the day but the prescription was 3 tablets a day. Should I take 1 tablet 3x a day, or 3 tablets 1x a day ? 60mg in one dose seems high.
you haven't told completely about your disease and for what purpose you are taking prednisolone. Some conditions can require even 200mg daily. I am also not sure whether your nurse practitioner has licence to prescribe medicines. 60mg dose/day is usually given in 3-4 dividend dose. So 20mg three times a day should do it.
wish you safe and swift recovery.
