My GP was lovely enough to prescribe Xenical after I went to see him about my instant weight gain. Over the last two years I've jumped from a slim size 10, 9.5 st to a whopping 11.10 st, size 14 due to having polycystic ovary syndrome.
My GP has informed me I should aim to lose 8 lbs. over the next six weeks. It's been over a week since I've started taking the tablets and I am facing the common side effects of oily stools etc., bloated tummy etc., all manageable, and not causing any discomfort, however I don't know how effective the treatment is and if it is actually working to reduce my weight.
I'm unable to do any vigorous cardio exercise over the next few weeks as I'm fasting (Ramadan) and therefore have had to put my gym membership on hold for the next several weeks, however I'd really like some advice on what exercise I could do to help keep me fit and ensure the medication works to its full potential. I’m walking as much as possible as it seems the most practical option, however I don’t know how effective it really is.
Also could you advise me on what food products I should avoid eating, e.g., bread, etc.? I've already cut out bread, butter, saturated fats, fried food, confectionaries etc. however I'm finding it difficult to measure the recommended fat intake 30g per day for my meals. I've bought myself some kitchen scales but I’m so confused - how do you measure fat content per meal? Please help???
