My mother has been diagonoised with lung cancer and had surgery in November to remove the cancerous spot but when they went in they discovered it was a more advanced cancer and is in stage 4. She sleeps all the time and has does not eat that much anymore, She is having pain in the lover breast of the area she had surgery on. She met with a chemo doctor in December and they said it was not curable and she does not want chemo. What can i expect i.e. time line and signs of spreading.

HI
The average Life expectancy in Stage 4 at the time of diagnosis is 8 months . But again it depends on multiple factors like age ( older the age less the life expectancy ) other associated problems like Diabetes , Hypertension , Kidney problems , Heart problems .
So I feel she may live for 3-8 months more .
The cancer may spread to esophagus ( food pipe ) and cause obstruction leading to difficulty swallowing . It may compromise lung function leading to breathing difficulty. It may break up and enter into blood and from there into heart causing heart attack or brain causing a stroke .
