What Health Risks Do I Face If My Mother Has High Diabetes And My Father Is An Alcoholic ?
my mother was diabetic when she had me and my father was an alcoholic at the same time. What are the major risks associated with this combination? I am now 35 years old with hypothyroidism which I have had since infancy. Is there anything else I should be concerned about?
Hi Jason, Welcome to HealthcareMagic Forum.
Normally Father's Alcoholic status will have no effect on the growing fetus. And if the Mother is Diabetic while she is carrying, the effects on the growing baby can be Birth defects, Growth restriction, Obesity or Hypothyroidism in later life, Macrosomia where in the birth weight will be more than 4000gms, The childhood metabolic syndrome which includes childhood obesity, hypertension, dyslipidemia, and glucose intolerance. Cardiovascular Risk Factors in later life. You should be concerned about all these factors but not necessary that you should have all these. Kindly get yourself examined regularly, eat healthy nutritious diet, exercise regularly and take your Medications without fail and go for regular follow up.
Wish you Good Health.
