What Helps With Thick Congestion In An Infant?

My 12 week old son has had what sounds like congestion since birth. It sounds thick and he snorts like a pig and sometimes coughs it up. Pediatrician says there is nothing wrong. It is affecting he sleeps. He nurses fine and nothing else seems to be wrong. I have tried everything. Help.

Thanks for your query

If his pediatrician is not concerned about it, that is good news as it is unlikely to be a worrisome cause. However, it is significant enough to worry you. Try to make him lie on one side, it will relieve his snorting. You could use saline nasal drops , one drop into each nostril three times a day to loosen up the congestion and once he is a little older, try steam inhalation ( he can be in your arms, keep the inhaler at a safe distance so that the mist reaches him and it should be far enough that it is not too hot).
